I found this photo of LaCoste while I was snooping around on his Facebook page. Not sure who took it or I’d give them credit.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I’m at the beach and… well. That’s it. I’m just at the beach.
Couple days late on this, but here’s my Vice column from earlier this week. If nothing else, check it out for the Bottle Cap Blues video. Trust me. You’ll like it.
Check you later, rollerblader.
This has been in the works for a long time now. Say hello to the Fairdale / Roger bike. The bike comes with a complete Roger board (with Indy’s and Bones) and a super-functional skate rack. It has a coaster brake vs. a fixed wheel, so you don’t have to pedal the whole time you’re riding it, you can totally coast. Only 50 of these were made. Crazy, huh? At Roger, we like riding bikes and riding skateboards so we combined the two and are bringing you the best of both worlds. I know, I know… we’re just smart like that.
Read more about the bike and the project on the Fairdale site.
Many thanks to Taj at Fairdale, Jim Bauer at Odyssey, Max Taylor and Tim Kerr, and Mike Aho for filming and editing the commercial. You guys are the best.
A few weeks ago Nate LaCoste and Bill Pierce were both coincidentally in Austin at the same time. Seemed like a good opportunity to have a Roger Team Rider Appreciation Day. So I took the two of them (along with my friend Brandon, Max Taylor, and Ryan Holloway) to Lockhart, TX for some Barbecue and then over to San Marcos, TX to go swimming in a spring-fed river. Unfortunately both of those towns have skateparks in them and the dudes got totally sidetracked from our Barbecue/swimming mission and ended up riding their toy skateboards and filming this montage instead of… you get the point.
Thanks, Fletch.
Hi.
I painted this cruiser deck the other day for a benefit to support the Power House Productions Ride It Sculpture Park in Detroit. There will be 100 decks in the auction and I think you can start bidding tomorrow (today.) Looks like I’m in good company.
I drew this for Dylan because he’s out there doing this. Fun times await us all. All you have to do is quit: complaining/obsessing/stressing/worrying/hating/grouching/grumping/frumping/etc. Quit talking about doing stuff and go do stuff. Trust me, you’ll sleep better.
We finally came to an agreement about what The Roger Video is going to be titled, so there will be no more Rejected Working Titles for the Roger Video. At least not until we make another video.
Okay, one more Rejected Working Title for the Roger Video: The Disciples of Gelfand
That’s what I wanted to name the video for the past year or so, but we couldn’t get a thumbs up (or even a reply) from the dude that invented the ollie. So it goes… (I invented the Sieben Grind, so I know how it feels to be super important to skateboarding.) And just to clear things up, the video isn’t going to be called “Chill Out, Dickwad.” Not because thats not an awesome name for a video, but just because we have a different title in mind. Laterz, dorkz.
New Cool Clips Coming In Hawt. And speaking of wiskate, have you watched Mini Video 82 yet? If not, you be blowing it my man.
Looks like the Grim Reaper, next to the unicorn. 120 views? I expect all Roger related videos to have at bare minimum of 140 views. I’m disappointed in you guys. You sadden me.
I think the new Roger site is going to be done way earlier than expected. Or way later than expected since we said it would be done a few months ago. Nevertheless, it’s getting close.
Rejected Working Title for the Roger Video: The Blind Video (Somebody already used this title.)
That photo up there is my buddy Adam Young at the Skatepark of Austin (R.I.P.) probably about eight years ago or so. Adam rode for Bueno (1:21-1:48) when it was around. I mention this because he had his first solo art show this past Saturday night and I wrote about it for Vice.com. Don’t believe me? Check it out.
Tim told me that he invented this trick and I’m inclined to believe him because he’s not a liar. At least not that I know of.
Stacy was in town the last few days and we finally got to sit in the same room to talk about the new website. Shouldn’t be too much longer now. Definitely by 2013. I heard there’s a new pro on the sticker team. Moving on up.
Rejected Working Title for the Roger Video: Do You Know Chata?
Happy Saturday Everybody! Hope you’re enjoying your weekend with a bowl of Frankenberry and some cartoons.
Saturday seems like a good day to read an interview with Tim and Eric and to thank the Berrics for posting a review of the T&E video teaser commercial trailer ad video thing.
I wonder if Bobby Puleo knows or even cares about his legacy. Infinitely influential.
Rejected Working Title for the Roger Video: Lasagna Muncherz
Here’s an ad that I made a while back for Boneless Zine out of San Antonio, TX. I’m not sure why we never added it to the ads page. Probably because skateboarders quit wearing hi-tops and started wearing boat shoes and dance slippers.
We started going through the footage for the video yesterday. So far I’m noticing a surprising lack of mega-ramp. Good thing there’s still a few weeks left to film stuff.
Rejected Working Title for the Roger Video: Don’t Ask Me, I Just Work Here
Not really skate related, but I wanted to express my sadness at the passing of Maurice Sendak who died yesterday. He was one of my earliest art influences and remains one of my favorite illustrators ever. Thanks for your contributions, Maurice. You’ll be missed.
Okay, that’s all. Go back to watching dudes skate indoor ledges now.
